Woodturning for beginners who have attended a class with Glenn.

Format of a two-day group class is as follows:
Schedule – 9.15am-5pm

9.15 – 11  welcome and short introductions, workshop
11-11.15 short break
11.15-1pm workshop
1– 2 lunch break (home-cooked lunch)
2–5pm workshop

Classes run from 9.15-5.00 with a break for tea/coffee and a break for a home-cooked lunch.

Practical details: Each turner has a top of the range lathe and tool panel with all necessary tools and chucks. All wood is supplied. If you wish to bring your own tools please feel free to do so.

What you will learn: You will go home with your own handturned pieces – one project will involve using milk paint on your handturned bowl.

Basic skills are given attention in the structure of each course.

• tool selection and sharpening
• use of basic woodturning tools
• cutting and shear cutting techniques, use of scrapers
• Spindle techniques
• face plate techniques
• getting the best finish on your work
• advice on what to look for when buying a lathe
• getting the most out of your material, advice on drying and wood selection

This booking cannot be transferred to another day unless Glenn Lucas can replace your booking – at least one week is needed to fill this position. Class size is small and last minute cancellations will mean that your booking is void and non-transferrable to another day.
