Directions

The workshop is NOT open to the public daily. We are open for classes, booked in advance, and for visitors wishing to buy bowls, tools or DVDs - BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. To avoid disappointment, please do not simply show up without prior arrangement as this is a working production studio and classroom!
  • Nearest airport: Dublin airport is 90mins drive from our workshop.
  • Nearest ferry port: Car ferry ports are Rosslare in the South East, 1 hour drive, and Dublin port, 90mins drive.
  • Nearest railway station: Muine Beag also called Bagenalstown train station is 7 miles from us - train schedule here (Dublin-Carlow-Kilkenny-Waterford service)
  • Arrangements can be made to have you collected from the airport/train and brought to the workshop and your accommodation nearby. Please do this in advance of your trip.
  • Important when driving to Co Carlow: Our workshop is in a very rural area and close to Mount Leinster. Villages nearby are Fenagh, Bagenalstown or Borris and each of these locations has a road sign to my workshop. My postcode is R21 PC79.

Approx 65 miles From the M50 take the M7. Get off the M7 at JUNCTION 11, you are now on the M9 Kilkenny/Waterford Road. Get off the M9 at EXIT 5, signed N80 to ROSSLARE. You do NOT need to go into Carlow town. Drive approx 4 miles and pass Fighting Cocks pub (landmark) – half a mile after this pub go to the centre of the road and turn RIGHT to Fenagh/Garryhill/Milltown Engineering. Drive 4 miles and straight through Fenagh village and LEFT at the top of the village for Garryhill. 4 miles further and you pass (landmark) Garryhill Handball Club on your right, straight on the Borris Road for another 1.5 miles and take a RIGHT at the first crossroads (with sign) – you will see an orange and white sign for Glenn Lucas Woodturning. We are the first house on the left – new, cream coloured bungalow, two sheds behind.
Approx 15 miles Take the N9 Kilkenny road. Drive for approx 10 mins (passing the Institute of Technology on your left and then the Dolman Hotel on your right). At EXIT 6 drive through a series of roundabouts following signs for Leighlinbridge/Bagenalstown (do not get on the M9 motorway) Watch carefully for signs – turn left for Bagenalstown (also called Muine Bheag) at junction called Royal Oak. Drive into Bagenalstown until you have to stop in the centre of town at a flat roundabout, and turn right for Borris (R705). Just as you leave the town take a left (L3001) following signs for Kiltealy, Ashlawn Garden Centre. Drive a windy main road for 6 miles until you reach a STOP sign at a crossroads. Turn left. Drive for one mile and take next LEFT- you will see an orange and white sign for Glenn Lucas Woodturning - turn left.  (There is also a brown sign for Templemoling Cemetery to the right). We are the first house on the left – new cream coloured bungalow, two sheds behind.
Approx 25 miles Take the M9 Dublin Road. After approx 15 miles turn off the M9 at EXIT 7 for Bagenalstown/Paulstown/Leighlinbridge. Watch for a RIGHT for Bagenalstown. Drive into Bagenalstown until you have to stop in the centre of town at a flat roundabout, and turn right for Borris (R705). Just as you leave the town take a left (L3001) following signs for Kiltealy, Ashlawn Garden Centre. Drive a windy main road for 6 miles until you reach a STOP sign at a crossroads. Turn left. Approx 26 miles Take the Kiltealy Road R702. In Kiltealy take the Borris road. Watch out for signs for Mount Leinster TV mast. Turn right at this junction (you are not going to the mast, this sign is just a landmark). Drive up and across the hill for approx 5 miles until you reach a stop sign. Turn right –sign post for Borris and Garryhill and you will see an orange and white sign for Glenn Lucas Woodturning Drive for one mile and take next LEFT- you will see an orange and white sign for Glenn Lucas Woodturning - turn left.  (There is also a brown sign for Templemoling Cemetery to the right). We are the first house on the left – new cream coloured bungalow, two sheds behind.
